Day One of State ✔️
The heat was brutal, the forecast called for lightning, hail, and high winds… but the Blazers showed up and showed out. 🔥⚡️
We kicked things off with Xander T. ’26 in the 300m hurdles prelims, cruising to a heat win in 39.36 and punching his ticket to Saturday’s finals.
In the 1600m, Kai A. ’26 battled through 90-degree heat and a chaotic race with incredible composure, running negative splits to place 9th in 4:28.27. Veteran leadership at its finest. 💪
State debut? No problem for Luke M. ’28 who was one of only four sophomores in the field…outside of the winner, Luke finished as the fastest sophomore and placed 16th in his first State appearance. Way to go Luke!🌟
To close the night, Xander came back for the 100m prelims and dropped a 10.92 after already running hurdles and surviving the heat all day. Oh, and somehow still had enough energy to do 69 push-ups and make the Marines leaderboard 😂
Today:
⚡Helena P. ’29 competes in long jump NOW (10 a.m.)
⚡ Xander competes in the 110m Hurdles at 10:55 AM
⚡ Leo N. ’27 will compete in the 800m prelims
Saturday:
⚡ Xander returns for the 100m finals chasing 10.7 and a shot at the Washington State record in the 300m hurdles
⚡ Kai, Luke, and Ryan E. ’27 close out the meet on the track with the 3200m
One day down. More work to do. #GoBlazers
