Track & Field
The Blazers sent six highly motivated athletes to the WIAA State Track & Field Championships in Yakima, each with their sights set on bringing home hardware. They delivered in impressive fashion. Competing through a wide range of conditions – scorching heat on the opening day, rain and cool temperatures on day two, and near-perfect championship weather on Saturday – every Bush athlete earned a spot on the podium. By the end of the meet, the Blazers had collected eight state medals and created memories that will last a lifetime.
Â
Seniors Kai A. and Xander T. put the finishing touches on remarkable Bush careers. Kai placed 9th in the 1600m before earning a state medal with a 5th-place finish in the 3200m. In that race, he was joined by teammate Luke M. ’28, who delivered an outstanding performance of his own to finish 6th, as the two Blazers battled side-by-side down the stretch.
Â
Xander added two more State Championships to his already legendary resume, capturing titles in both the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles. Freshman Helena Pullen announced herself on the state’s biggest stage with a 5th-place finish in the long jump, while juniors Ryan E. and Leo N. capped off excellent seasons by earning state medals in the 800m (7th place) and 3200m (5th place), respectively.
Â
From start to finish, it was an exceptional weekend for Bush Track & Field and a fitting conclusion to one of the most successful seasons in program history. The coaching staff could not have been prouder of the effort, resilience, and accomplishments of this remarkable group of athletes.
