The Varsity Boys tennis players delivered an exciting weekend of competition filled with close matches and impressive wins.
On Saturday, doubles pairs Deven S. ’28 and Gio D ’29, along with Sam F. ’27 and Finn C. ’27, both opened the day with victories, advancing to their next rounds. Steinar F. ’26 also came out strong with a win in his opening match, while Clement H. ’27 battled through a very close match before narrowly falling short.
As play continued, Steinar F. ’26 picked up another victory, while Deven S. ’28 and Gio D. ’29 dropped a tough match but remained in contention to play again later that afternoon. Sam F. ’27 and Finn C. ’27 awaited their next opponents before returning to the court, where they went on to win and secure a spot in the semifinals.
Steinar F. ’26 later fell in a hard-fought match but will continue in the consolation bracket today, Monday October 13th. Deven S. ’28 and Gio D. ’29 ‘s final match ended in another close contest, losing 6–4, 7–5 after a strong showing. Both Sam F. ’27 and Finn C. ’27, as well as Steinar F. ’26, reached the semifinals but came up short. All three returned Monday to compete again.
On Monday, the Blazers competed fiercely in both consolation finals matches but ultimately fell in close contests, finishing fourth overall in the tournament. Despite the tough losses, Bush athletes’ consistent play throughout the weekend earned them ESC All-League honors, highlighting their effort, growth, and teamwork across the season.
